The Alpha mission will be ESA astronaut Thomas Pesquet’s second mission on board the International Space Station. He will be the first French astronaut to fly on a SpaceX Crew Dragon spacecraft. Alpha is named after the closest stellar system to Earth, Alpha Centauri. The design of the patch highlights the colours of the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals as well as the French flag colours at the top. In addition, the 10 stars sparkling in the background represent both the Centaurus constellation and the number of French citizens who have flown to space.
THE ESA ACRONYM AND LOGO ARE REGISTERED TRADEMARKS OF THE EUROPEAN SPACE AGENCY. NEITHER ESA NOR ESA ASTRONAUTS RECEIVE ANY FINANCIAL CONSIDERATION FROM THE ESA SPACE SHOP.
