The Horizons mission was German astronaut Alexander Gerst’s second mission in space, during which he took on the role of space station commander of the ISS – only the second European astronaut to do so. The Horizons mission logo shows a face gazing at the horizon above a blue band that symbolises the atmosphere and is a nod to Gerst’s first mission, Blue Dot.
